Client: My computer won't turn on...
Tech: Laptop?
Client: Yea... I charged it
Tech: Ok, go ahead and grab the cord... it could be a bad battery.
Client: Why should I grab the cord?
Tech: The battery might not be charging correctly, booting it plugged in will tell us if the problem is with the battery or the computer itself.
Client: I don't have the cord..
Tech: Oh, its not with you right now?
Client: No, I threw it away?
Tech: Wait, what!? Why!???
Client: I don't need it anymore, I already charged the battery to 100%!
Tech: What do you mean you already charged the battery?? What happens when the power in the battery runs out? You have to recharge it with the power cord!
Client: The power in the battery runs out???!??! WHAT?!?
Tech: Yes, batteries run out of power.. Did you think they lasted forever?
Client: I gotta go get it out of my roommates trashcan!!

ReplyDeleteI was the tech on that call.. it did... I've told this story and laughed endlessly about it. Then I felt a deep pain when I realized that humans can become this stupid.
